Two members of the Advanced Ecology / Bird and Crawford Forestry team were among 110 runners who competed in the Corkscrew Wine Run 2018 half-marathon Saturday, October 13.

Forester / Wildlife Biologist John Marksberry finished the 13.1-mile event in 35th place overall and 6th in the male 20 to 29 age group with a time of 2 hours and 51 seconds.

GIS / GPS Specialist Grayson Wylie finished 79th overall and 9th in the male 20 to 29 age group with a time of 2 hours, 32 minutes, and 26 seconds.

The real prize for participating in a half marathon, according to regular runners, is “competing with yourself and the sense of accomplishment in finishing and taking steps to stay in shape.”

The event started and ended at Kiepersol Vineyards southeast of Tyler, near Bullard. The course was a scenic trail through the vineyards, through downtown Bullard, and by the Bullard High School before returning to the winery.

Our congratulations to the Advanced Ecology and Bird and Crawford Forestry team members, and to all of the participants in the Corkscrew Wine Run 2018, for their steps toward a healthy lifestyle.
